How to Store Blueberry Muffin Tigernut Smoothie

It’s generally not a great idea to store a smoothie longer than a few hours–the ingredients will start to change texture and separate after that. Store your smoothie in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours. You can also store it in the freezer (once it’s been transferred to a freezer-safe container with plenty of space at the top) for up to 3 months, but beware, it will be frozen solid and will need to thaw in the refrigerator for 12-24 hours before blending.

You can get ahead by making and freezing smoothie prep jars with the solid ingredients and then adding liquid just before blending.

Tips for Making Blueberry Muffin Tigernut Smoothie

Use a high-speed blender. If you want a smooth sipping experience, high power is crucial. If you don’t have a regular countertop mixer, you can blend the ingredients using an immersion blender, but it will require a little more intention. You’ll want to use a heavy, wide-bottomed container to combine the ingredients, and blending the frozen components with the liquid first, before adding the rest of the ingredients, will help keep things smooth.
